Many employers may hire an applicant who has lied about their educational background assuming that they have completed college. This becomes a complicated issue since the employer just assumes that the application is correct because it is a legal document, but unfortunately as long as people are willing to commit perjury while under oath at a court of law there will always be people that make themselves seem more qualified for the position then they really are.

As an employer it is important that not only are you applicants free of any type of criminal record, but that they are also qualified for the position of which they are applying for. Would you rather have an employee who has completed a bachelor’s degree or an employee that said they did. Picking out those who are willing to lie is just like weeding out criminals from your business.
For any business, whether the applicant is a liar or thief, they cannot really be relied on to be an asset to the company. It is for this reason that it is so important to do Free background checks on your perspective applicants. The last thing anyone wants is someone who says they have a bachelor’s degree but in reality does not even have a high school diploma.

Do yourself and your company a favor and check the information on your applicants resume ensuring that it is the truth. Remember, you have never even met these applicants to know enough about them to trust that their information is accurate. After you weed out your applicants with a criminal record background check, take the remaining applications and run their educational background information to ensure that they will be a trustworthy employee and an asset to your business.

Having educated employees, regardless as to what major it is, means that an employee is more likely to go all the way for your company. They can set goals and achieve them. Unfortunately, sometimes you may find that although an applicant has graduated, their grades may not be accurate on their application. Since the position may not require a bachelor’s degree any employer would prefer to hire the applicant with the highest GPA. You can easily obtain this information from a Free background check.

Free Background Checks

Guide to Getting Free Background Checks

Free Background Checks

Author: Dominic Ferrara

It's getting to be more and more important to find out about people who are around you. You may be thinking of getting to know someone better online that you just met.

You may be interested in hiring someone to babysit your children. However, how much do you know about these people? Chances are you know nothing more than what they are telling you. It's always a good idea to get a free background check in order to find out all you can about them before you get involved with someone.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to search public records. Many of them are located online in the archives so you spend some time at home looking for them. You will need to have the full name of the individual at the very least. You will also need to know and have the previous address. You do have to be careful of some websites though. They will give you the impression that you can obtain free background checks from them.

Once you enter all of the search criteria, they will then tell you they have a match with detailed information for you. The catch though is that these companies have a price tag connected to it.They know that the curiosity of most people will result in them proceeding with the purchase at that point. It is legal to do so, but most of us will agree that it isn't really an ethical way to sell such services. It does take more work to find places to obtain free background checks but they are out there. Most of the websites that do allow you to obtain free background checks aren't going to give you more than the basics.

However, if you want to verify the age of someone or another detail you should be able to do so. What you will get depends on the quality of the site. Be prepared to do plenty of searching in order to find the right place to get your information for free. You will find there are tons of advertisements on such sites as well. This is because the website is trying to find a great way to continue offering free services.

At the same time they need to generate some income to cover the upkeep of the website. Advertisers are always looking for space to get their information into the eye of the online consumers so it is a perfect match. Now that you've learned how to obtain a free background check, there is no excuse not to do so. Your search may not turn up anything but it may turn up something quite substantial. For your peace of mind you need to find out what the true story is about those new people coming into your life.

They may be someone you want to date, someone you want to work for you, or someone you want to rent your home to. Find out what they are all about before you do any of those things.

Free Background Checks

Background Checks - It's Better to be Safe than Sorry (Free Background Checks)

Free Background Checks

‘Do a background check first.’ How many times have we heard that line before? Background checks refer to a search for information regarding the history of an individual. To put it simply, background checks are 'quick checks' on a person's character. If there is anything negative found on you through background checks, you could end up becoming disqualified for a job position or an educational grant or scholarship.

Background Checks - Who's Checking Up on You?

You may not realize it, but there can be quite a lot of people checking up on you. Potential employers top the list. Companies usually conduct background checks on job applicants primarily as a means to verify the credentials that you may have listed on your resume. Another reason is to check for any criminal record you may have. For instance, a record concerning money may not make you a likely candidate for a financial position in the firm.

Sometimes, landlords also do background checks on potential tenants to avoid potentially unruly tenants. Some people even do background checks on people they are dating! But then, in today's times, one cannot be too careful.

The Source of Background Checks

Background checks can dig up negative information through various public records and documents. The most obvious one would be if you have a criminal record but information can also be culled from your driving history and your financial or credit standing. If any red flags are found on these records, it could easily break your chances of getting the job you want, a loan you are applying for or that apartment you are trying to rent.

Of course, background checks is not just something that can be done to you. YOU can also conduct background checks yourself. Apart from doing background checks on others, you can also conduct them for companies and institutions. Although information regarding the products and services that a company offers is easy to come by, other details such as the legal and financial status, social standing and reputation may require more effort.

Unfortunately, because there are so many cases of mistaken identities and wrongful arrests, background checks cannot be reliable all the time. Sometimes, you would have to conduct additional research and repeat verification steps to ensure that you have the right information.

Background Checks Infiltrate the Internet

Online background checks have gained popularity primarily because it is much cheaper than hiring a private detective to do it for you. The most obvious route would be to conduct quick and informal background checks through free search engines on the Internet. But this method may provide very little information and there is no guarantee as regards the accuracy of the information.

You can, however, find a company that specializes in doing background checks online. Don't worry; there is hardly any face-to-face communication necessary when background checks are online and exchanges can be facilitated through e-mail or online chatting.

There is no additional equipment that needs to be purchased when doing online background checks and you will only be asked to pay a registration fee by these companies. Sometimes in as less as one day to a maximum of three days, you can get the results of your background checks already. Some companies even offer you data storage for all the background checks that you have requested from them so that they can be obtained 'on demand'.

So interested in looking to something or someone? Try and conduct online background checks
Free Background Checks

How To Get A Free Background Check

Free Background Check

You've found yourself in a situation that you have to do a free background check. Something in your life has surfaced; or perhaps more than likely, something in your life has surfaced that has to do with someone else and you want to check them out. If you're reading this, you are very wise. Find out how to do a free background check and do it immediately.

More times than not, a person does a free background check for the protection of themselves and/or their family.
Let's get down to it. The first question is: is there really such a thing as a free background check?

The answer is not that easy, but honestly it's both yes and no. Yes, you can get some information about someone online doing a free background check, but unless their name is very uncommon, you probably won't get much. But it is free so do it anyway. And no, if the name is fairly common or if you don't have any more information other than a name, you are not going to get the information that you are looking for.If you are older than 5, you've come to realize that even with a free background check, nothing that is worth anything is ever totally free. So what's the skinny on this?Search engines, especially the major ones such as Google and Yahoo have claimed that you can get any information that you want by typing it in their browser and allowing the engines to do their stuff.

The problem is that most of the information that you are looking for in a free background check just will not be part of the results. That information such as:

• Criminal records
• Current and past employment
• Sex offender status
• Past convictions
• Motor vehicle records including DUIs
• Marital status and past divorces
• Credit check and bankruptcies

All of this information will not be found on a free background check. But you still need to find out what is going on with this person. Perhaps you are renting them an apartment; or maybe you are about to hire them; or even you met them online and are going to meet them in real life; whatever it is, you need something more than a free background check to help you out!If all else fails, there are tons of companies online that specialize in doing background checks. But buyer beware; some are scams, but some are very legit. Be careful and check them out by looking up reviews from some of their previous customers.

Only then can you be safe and not spending your money for nothing or giving your credit card information to an unsecured website. If you can't find any reviews, go to a site that you trust and link to some of the people they suggest. Usually if they are reputable, they will not recommend someone that is not reputable also.

But to begin, don't forget your first step is to try to do your free background check. It won't cost you a dime and you may end up getting some information after all.

Free Background Check

Keeping Your Employees Safe (Free Background Checks)

Regardless of the type of business you own, holding a job should never mean an employee is in danger from violent customers. Unfortunately, this is not always the case– far too frequently an employee is in the position of facing serious bodily injury or even worse from a customer who is out of control. There are some measures which you can take in advance to protect your employees.

One absolutely essential factor in promoting the safety of your employees is for them to have consistent emergency access readily available at all times. While something as basic as an easily-accessible 911 phone line is standard in many companies, many others do not have it. In the interest of their lives and safety, this should be available to all employees when they are in the workplace.

A standard video camera is also necessary. In addition to capturing any kind of violent or aggressive activity on camera as evidence for the police, the prominent display of a video camera is enough to deter many individuals from committing such actions in the first place.

In virtually any kind of job, but especially one in which violent or aggressive customers is a common problem, it is a good idea to address this issue as a standard part of the employees’ job training. Although violence from a disgruntled customer can occur in nearly any employment situation, some workplaces, such as all-night convenience stores for example, often have this problem on a regular basis. It is in your employees’ best interests for them to not only be aware of this problem in advance, but to know how to deal with it if it does occur while they are on the job.

There are two main factors in promoting your employees’ safety: being aware that a serious problem could occur, and knowing what to do if something does happen. While being in the workplace should not mean the employee should be in a state of fear, many injuries and fatalities occur in the workplace because the employee was caught off-guard. He should be advised to keep his eyes and ears open– to not allow for too many distractions– so that he will be aware of what is going on around him, as well as focusing on his work. In addition, he should be advised as to how to handle a crisis of violence if one does occur. As no method is completely foolproof in every single instance, he should have as many options as possible to protect himself.

Many employees also need to be made aware that they do not have to tolerate aggressive or violent behavior from their customers. Even though this may sound obvious, some, especially young people and women, tolerate inappropriate behavior simply because they do not know that they shouldn’t. Prior to beginning work, it should be made clear to them what is acceptable behavior from a customer and what is not.

It is in the best interest of both your company and your employees for them to be safe when they are on the job. Some advance planning will help to minimize their risks from potentially-violent customers.

Free Background Checks

Background Screening using Civil Records

Using civil records in the background screening process of a potential employee can be very enlightening. It can help you make assessments about a potential employee before hiring them and should be of use to any business.

Using civil records in the background screening process of potential employees can turn up a lot of things that normal background checks would not. Using civil records in the background screening process of potential employees will show if the employee in question has any record of being involved in non-criminal litigation of any manner. This could seem to be something that could be overlooked, after all it is not like the employee is a criminal. While this is true in some cases, most of time however this could show some underlying potential to become a criminal in the future. Using civil records in the background screening process of potential employees can show you if that potential employee has problems with things such as keeping promises.

This could be of great importance to you and your business. If a potential employee can not keep their word what should make you willing to trust them in other regards? This can be as simple as a deadline for a project. The employee in question could say that they will have the project ready for you in time to be used for a presentation or something of that sort. Yet, when the time arrives and you have hundreds of people awaiting that presentation, it could not be finished because that employee did not keep their word and get it done like they said they would. They could cost you a lot of money by losing you potential investors, or potential clients who, if the presentation had been finished may have looked more closely at your business and decided to invest in it or to buy that product you’re selling.

So while using civil records in the background screening process of potential employees may not initially seem as though it can be beneficial in the screening process, it can actually tell you a lot about a person to go through their civil records, and since it is fairly easy to do, there are even sites on the web which allow you to do so, then you should take advantage of it. By using civil records in the background screening process of potential employees you may find that a particular employee has been married and divorced a lot of times, this may not be of huge importance to some but to others it could.

Some businesses will see this as a potential problem if a potential employee has been married and divorced a lot, if it happens again it could cause a distraction for the employee and their work could be affected. Even worse if this employee is working to a tight schedule in the workplace, this schedule could be thrown off by the court appearances that may potentially get in the way of the job should another divorce occur. This could cost the business money and if so then perhaps that employee is not the best suited for the job.

By using civil records in the background screening process such things can be pointed out, and can help you in your overall selection of employees.

The Basics of Conducting Tenant Background Checks.

It is surprising how many people are not aware that most landlords these days have a policy of conducting background checks on their prospective tenants. It may also be surprising that some landlords are not completely knowledgeable about the scope that is permissible in such checks.
The general idea is that a landlord needs to know that his prospective tenant is responsible and reliable. For example, it is in his best interest to know in advance that the person to whom he is renting will pay his rent, keep the property in good condition, and not conduct any illegal or other dangerous activity on his property. As it is certainly reasonable for the landlord to want to know this kind of information prior to taking the person on as a tenant, obtaining the facts is an appropriate measure.

One of the main factors in a landlord’s background check of a prospective tenant is gaining information about his credit history. While this may seem unduly intrusive, the point is for the landlord to know that the tenant is conscientious about paying his bills and debts. Unfortunately, there can be circumstances which cause a person to have a negative credit history through no fault of his own, such as in the case of a divorce. While some landlords take these possibilities into consideration, others do not.

Many landlords also conduct a background check to see if a tenant has a criminal history. In addition to being a positive measure in protecting the property, it is also helpful in protecting other tenants. Although the scope of criminal background checks can vary, it is generally limited to felony convictions and behavior which could place the property or other tenants in a position of danger.

Checking the background of a tenant includes checking his employment history and his prior residences. If he has a significant history of getting fired from or quitting jobs, or lacks the current financial status to be able to meet his financial obligations responsibly, these are signs that renting to him may not be wise. In addition, both the frequency of changing residences and the conditions under which he has done so are also reflections on whether or not he would be a good prospective tenant. For example, if he violated the terms of a prior rental agreement or lease, if he was evicted from a previous residence, or if his rent was not paid up to date when he moved, the landlord should be hesitant in renting to him. In most instances, these types of negative factors are enough to influence a landlord’s decision to refrain from renting to the person.

The main purpose of conducting background checks on prospective tenants is so that the property owner can protect his property, his current tenants, and his business interests. When these checks are within a reasonable scope in order to determine the basic character and suitability of a prospective tenant, it is both appropriate and necessary for the landlord to acquire this relevant information.

About instant background checks

Most of the time, people dismiss the importance of getting free background checks because they think that accessing it involves a very complicated and very expensive process. It reveals a lot of information that was either mistakenly or deliberately omitted -- such as residency in other regions where a criminal record might be located. Background checks also help verify dates of attendance and degrees or certifications earned. It can also provide precise information about prior employment. An applicant's history will go a long way in predicting their future and a meticulous employee background check during the pre employment screening process helps save undesired consequences.

A number of questions are generally asked when it comes to background checks. The questions frequently asked relate to the need and importance of conducting a background check and the likely costs to be incurred. Questions relating to the method of screening candidates and use of database search to help enhance the in-person search of a background check package may also be asked. Since there are many different types of background searches, information regarding the same can also be asked. People may have queries regarding federal background checks, criminal background checks, nanny background checks and public background checks to name a few. The questions asked vary from one background check to another.

While hiring a company to conduct a background check the questions, which people tend to ask, relate to the period from which the company has been in business and details of their location. People may also want to know the source from where such companies get information on applicants. Information regarding the laws governing the collection and use of such information may also be asked. Since labor laws are strict in the US people may also want to know that even though it may be legal to get this information on a job applicant, is it legal to use it to make a hiring decision. Queries relating to the fees charged and procedure for billing may also be questioned. Information relating to the same can be obtained online or through the agency providing the service.

By Steve Valentino

Information You Need to Conduct a Criminal Background Check

Is someone in your life causing you reason for concern? Or do you think it is a good idea to know about the past lives of those people in your life? If so then you should consider conducting a criminal background check.

You can do so easily by entering basic data into a form on the Internet and then conducting the search. But, you need to have this basic information or else you will not be able to conduct the criminal background check. You can conduct a criminal background check with just the individual's name and their state of residence, but you will receive more accurate results if you have a little more information like their address, social security number, and any aliases they may have used in the past. However, if you know the individual's name and state of residence that is all that is necessary to complete the criminal background check.

There are billions of records that are searched in a criminal background check. This includes county records, utility company records, court records, change of address records, public records, business records, property records, and more. Once the criminal background search is complete you will receive a report with any hits or negative information on the person you searched. What you do with the information after you receive it is up to you, but a criminal background check does a wonderful job of letting you know whether a particular individual is trustworthy and who they say they are.

Main contributor for the Criminal-BackgroundCheck.info blog
Darren Barnett is persistant in his persuit to keep everyone safe from criminal injustic

Who Are You Dealing With? Client Background Check Essentials (Free Background Checks)

By Dave Hecker

Free Background Checks

Every client relationship your company creates is incredibly valuable -- each has the potential to grow into a long-lasting revenue source.

However, client relationships take considerable time, energy, patience, and effort before they can become a trusted and reliable part of your business. It's a big investment, and when a relationship fails you've usually lost quite a bit of time and effort along the way. In this article, we'll look at several techniques you can use to screen out potentially negative clients such as non-payers, highly litigant clients, clients that are on the brink of bankruptcy, and plain old nightmare clients.

The best way to establish a basic level of protection is to perform free background checks prior to allocating your precious time and resources to their project. So many Web developers believe that once the contract is signed, they are protected from most problems because the courts will happily force the client to make good on the contract. While this is true in some circumstances, even a small dispute can turn into a years-long nightmare in the court system, with you racking up legal fees every step of the way. Having a binding contract doesn't protect you from an expensive and lengthy process of collections and legal proceedings.

With a little research, however, a surprising amount of these potentially problematic clients can be identified before you expose yourself to any risk. A few simple searches on the Web will provide you with the information you need to make good decisions and handle the potential client appropriately -- and most of these information sites are free.

When Should you do a Background Check on a New Client?
Performing background checks on potential clients can take time, so you'll want to be strategic in your approach. Each situation is different but, as a general rule, you'll want to research the client more thoroughly as you invest more time and resources into that client.

If I'm asked for a proposal by a client that appears to be entirely legit, I'll usually just peruse their Website, and get a feel for their personalities over the phone, before moving forward with the proposal. If the proposal itself is going to take 12 hours because the job is a large one, I might poke around a bit online and perform minimal research before investing the time in preparing the proposal.

Once a deal is in place (i.e. a contract is on the table or a verbal agreement, at least, has been made) I'll usually verify the identity of the company with the corresponding state government, and check a few other free resources (which we'll discuss in a moment) just to make sure there aren't any warning signs.

Once the agreement is signed, however, it's time to do a comprehensive check on the company and make sure that the contract is going to be enforceable and collectable. My goal is to make sure that the client is who they say they are, confirm that the signatory is authorized to sign on behalf of the company, and verify that the company is legal and doing real business. With those three items in place, we can comfortably begin the project knowing that we are, in fact, legally protected by the contract or legal agreement.

How to Get the Information You Need
Now that you've decided to verify some information about your client, let's take a look at the details you'll be seeking, and where to find them.

Note: The following information is directly relevant to US legal and corporate standards, and may not apply to your location. Although the basic premise of qualifying and confirming client information is always important, local laws and resources may vary.

Step One: Confirm The Client's Identity
You'd be surprised how often I receive a signed contract from a new client, only to find that the contract is completely unenforceable. Why? It's usually due to one of these reasons:

The official name of the company does not exist in the corporate records of the state or region in which the contract needs to be enforceable.

The signatory is signing on behalf of a legitimate company, but is not listed as a principal of that company.

Keep in mind that an incorporated business entity (in the US, a corporation or LLC, but elsewhere, the company could be called a Pty. Ltd., etc.) is an individual entity, separate from any person or group of people. The company must be registered with the Secretary of State in the state in which they're doing business, and the principals (specific people who are authorized to sign and do business on behalf of the company) must be listed by name in the company's corporate filings. Even if a company is incorporated in one state, under U.S. law they must register as a 'foreign corporation' to perform business in a separate state, so this technique should always yield some result.

Exceptions do apply, however, and corporate law is highly complex, but the important thing to remember is that you should always be able to find a record for your client in the Secretary of State's Website in the company's home state, and you should always be able to find evidence that the signatory is a principal of the company and has the legal authority to enter into an agreement on behalf of the company.

These corporate records are generally free and available on the Web. Simply search for the Secretary of State Website in the company's home state and find your way to the corporate records section. Don't know the state in which your client is incorporated? Just ask them -- it's a standard business practice to request this kind of information about a new client.

Now that we know that the organization named on the contract exists, and the signatory is empowered to execute the contract, let's learn a bit more about our client before we start investing in the project.

Step Two: Check The Client's Background
How much work are you willing to do for a client before you get paid? It's easy to say, "We need 50% up-front," but that's not always achievable. Larger clients, for example, tend to have a 15-30 day cycle on their accounts payable, and are used to that payment cycle being taken seriously. So, you'll have to make a decision about how much "credit" to extend them. Here's how.

Having established that this is a legitimate firm, we can expect to find some history about the company in the public corporate records. There are many sources of this information:

credit reporting companies (like Equifax)
corporate credit and information bureaus (like Dunn & Bradstreet)
consolidated information sources (like knowx.com)
consultants who specialize in checking out company backgrounds

We'll start with the free stuff, and move on from there. Once you've reached a level of comfort with this client and are confident that you'll actually get paid, you can forget the whole thing and move forward with confidence. Until then, we'll keep digging until we have the information we need to make the right decision.

At the Secretary of State Website, we learned the corporate status and identified the principal individuals associated with the company. We can take advantage of that information by doing some basic Google searches using the names of the principals listed. Be creative, and you might find press releases, media mentions, or even court records related to these people. You'll be surprised how much you can learn with 5 minutes of snooping once you have the names of the people involved with the firm! Try to get a feel for how long the company has been doing business, and how successful their efforts have been.

Next, we'll move to the Dunn and Bradstreet (DnB) Website, found at http://www.dnb.com/. You'll probably be most interested in the Small Business section. Companies actually pay to be listed in the DnB database because DnB is one of the key credit reference organizations on the Web. However, almost any company will be listed there if they've existed for some time, because DnB also offers basic listings free for any company. While it's not conclusive, a DnB listing supports the evidence that the company is legitimate, as DnB periodically confirms its records against those of the government, in addition to listing its own metrics for risk and financial stability.

In many cases, DnB will offer additional detail for a fee. This detail is usually related to a company's sales and payment history as reported by other DnB members. This is sometimes useful if you're researching a company aggressively, but can be unnecessary. And don't forget to make sure that your company is listed, too! After all, you might be on the other side of this process one day if a potential client does research to check your company out.

At this point, you'll need to start paying for further research, or spending some real time learning about the resources and doing it yourself. Fortunately, there are Websites that will do a comprehensive scan of the public records for a modest fee, typically US$20-$50. My resource of choice is http://www.knowx.com. Knowx offers a handy feature that allows you to search for a company by name first, then view what kind of information KnowX has about that company. If Knowx reports that there are record types that you're interested in, buy the report. If not, you lose nothing.

Free Background Checks

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://free-backgroundchecks.blogspot.com/2008/06/who-are-you-dealing-with-client.html' title='Who Are You Dealing With? Conducting a totally free background check on the Internet is a crucial procedure that requires a lot of time and effort. You can conduct an effective people search, background search or any search for that matter on the Internet. The question is whether you can perform 100% free background checks on an individual using the web. The answer is yes to some extent as it does not provide enough information on a free background checks. The information sought includes previous employment, some criminal history and the individual’s credit rating. You should be extra careful when dealing with offers for free background checks.

The Internet provides a plethora of information on free background checks. But when you take a close look at such free sites, it would be apparent that the information they provide is not really free at all. To find out if an individual has any warrants or criminal charges, you may need to pay a fee to get the details. It is also possible for anyone to get the information by themselves without a fee. Internet provides numerous public records which are searchable online. Although free background checks is not a good option, it may sometimes provide some enlightening basic information about that person. One of the first searches in a free background checks is the fundamental records search. This would possibly unearth some of the basic information such as the name, date of birth, address and other personal details of the individual. Using the information provided by this search, you can use that information for further background searches of a person.

Social Security Number authentication can reveal an array of information about a person. SSN can be verified by the records. A false SSN would look similar to the original and this will be revealed during the investigation. Driving license is another option through which you can perform a free background check. Driving license records are not open to public, but the investigators can persuade the officials to get access to those databases if the investigation is legitimized. Through DMV you can perform a free background check to get some personal details of an individual. Legal investigators can obtain certain details like name, address and place of the person with ease from the DMV.

You can unearth some basic details on a free background checks website. It may be exhausting to perform an in-depth free background search on the Internet. You may end up spending a lot of time and effort to get the accurate and extensive information to be delivered. Despite many disadvantages of free background checks, there are a few plus points also. Very basic and less complicated information can be easily obtained by these free websites. The databases existing in such websites are quite informative.

Many online businesses purchase the public records data and resell it. This service is intended to help people find their friends and family members but most often it is used to perform background checks using the same public data. These data provide information such as the property owned, marital status, phone numbers and previous addresses. The criminal history and other related details are usually got only with a fee. There are many websites that offer to free background checks but these free searches offer basic information that are already in the yellow pages or white page information or that will be already on the Internet.

Depending on the depth of the information or investigation you want, you may need to pay a fixed amount as fee to get the details of the particular individual. If you want the highest amount of investigation background check, you may have to hire a private detective to collect the data of the person you want. For basic information such as checking red flags of a person, online free backgrounds checks will be sufficient. But this is also not definitely accurate at all times.
The best way to check whether these free backgrounds checks on the Internet are reliable, just play around a few sample searches and see if the information you have got is the required information. Many of the free background checks are instant. These searches are self service and limited in scope allowing you to have only a few preliminary search results. If you want additional or more comprehensive lookup, you should pay a fee to the website or the agency.
Free background checks are generally not as comprehensive as the paid background checks. Nothing is free in this world so get your valuable comprehensive information with a bit of cash, or else you will be hunting worthless information that will do no good.

Free BAckground Checks

Totally Free Background Checks - Free Public Criminal Records

By James Dean

If you are looking for totally free background checks you are reading the right article. Here's some things applicants and employers need to know:

Job Applicants

Check prior background reports. Under federal law, you are entitled to a copy of any background report that had been done on you, for a minimal fee of $10 or less. In three states, California, Minnesota, and Oklahoma, they're free. You need to know which screening firm out of the nearly 2,000 nationwide did the report. A previous employer can tell you and then contact the screening company directly. ChoicePoint (CPS), a big screening firm to large employers, has a Web site for consumer requests, choicetrust.com. Other major background companies include US Investigation Services, First Advantage, and Kroll.

Know who's checking your past. Examine the consent form that gives an employer permission to conduct a background check. It should list the screening firm doing the work and the scope of the investigation, whether that includes criminal records, credit history, driving record, or reference interviews.

Act fast if something's wrong. If you're rejected for a job based on your background report, an employer must tell you this and hand over a copy of the full report. Federal regulators have said employers have to wait only five business days before hiring another applicant while you dispute information in your background report. Contact the screening firm immediately and demand, in writing and by phone, a reinvestigation.

Employers

Know what you're getting from a background check. The quality and depth of background investigations vary widely in an industry where many companies are startups offering low prices to win business. Be wary of Web sites offering instant checks. They may not be familiar with compliance and federal law. Some background companies search for criminal history in only one or two counties where an applicant has lived primarily, possibly missing information elsewhere.
There's no national database of all criminal records. Despite some marketing claims to the contrary, no master file exists of all state and federal criminal arrests and convictions. Searching criminal records remains a fragmented task across 50 states and thousands of courthouses. Diligent searches require screening firms to send workers to pull court files by hand for accuracy.
Know how reference checks are done. Some screening firms grant anonymity to friends and former bosses and co-workers in exchange for unvarnished opinions about applicants. Others identify all sources to guard against unsubstantiated gossip and innuendo. Ask how a screening firm checks references and whether you can provide specific questions to be asked that pertain to the position being filled.

Free Background Checks

Terhune is a senior writer for BusinessWeek based in Atlanta

Employees Background Screening (Free Background Checks)

Many applicants may lie on their application about their educational background when they feel that it will never be checked.

Background Checks (Free Background Check)

Background checks are becoming more and more applicable since 9-11 and increase in terrorist attack incidents all around the world. A few years back, background- and criminal background checks were only a specialized need for businesses or government offices, when checking out the learning or criminal background of the new people they were hiring. That’s not the case today. Everyday people like you and me are subjected to criminal background check every day, by public servant, city/ state/ federal employees, by private real estate managers, by officers of courts, and so on. The need to “check background criminal” is not just for gun violence
prevention , it’s big business!

There’s often a need to find a “dead beat dad,” or a missing relative or missing person. Lot of people want to locate someone’s current place of employment or get a criminal records history/ other background information (sex offender). So, there’s always a reason why someone will want to “background check” or “criminal background check” or whatever you wish to call it . . . So long as they’re not looking for a “free criminal check ,” the only question is where they should go online to get the best deal

Free Criminal Background Check

By Steve Valentino

Many investigation companies advertise free background checks on their websites, but for any background checks required in business that involves collecting some quality and accurate information, spending money for a professional background investigation would still be the best option. Free background checks do exist but are not the proper choice when it comes to jeopardizing a business or a company. Although not a good option when an exhaustive search is essential, a free background check can provide some enlightening basic information about an individual.

One of the first searches in a free criminal background search is the fundamental records search. This could unearth some of the basic information such as the date of birth and other personal details of the individual. Since this search usually produces information about the specifics of the individual, they can be used for further background search about the person.
SSN authentication can reveal a gamut of information about an individual. The SSN can be verified from the records existing with the DMV. Since a falsified SSN would look similar to the original one, the truth can be revealed only during the investigation. A driver's license could be another option with which to conduct an investigation. Though the driving history is not open to the public, investigators can persuade the officials to give access to these records if the investigation is legal.

The DMV also has access to an individual’s personal details as well as the addresses of all the places where the individual has previously resided and is currently residing. So a legal investigator would be able to obtain these details with ease from the DMV.
These are some of the basic details that can be unearthed by anyone or by companies providing free background criminal search. However, an exhaustive and in depth search would entitle spending a lot more along with taking up a bit of time while waiting for an accurate and extensive report to be delivered.
